Encouraging

Last night we did an event thats about 2 hours away from Winnipeg.

It was a great night.

Jenn and i had a discussion group together and the girls in our group were so hurt. They have been through so much.

The one girl in our group was in grade 11 (Around 16 years old). 10 years ago, her mother told her to go to bed with her clothes on. In the middle of the night her mom came and woke her up and said she was going on a trip. . . She had been in foster care since and not seen her brothers, sisters, and her mother for ten years. Because of the neglect, she developed a smoking addiction in grade 8. She also began cutting herself.

Now she is a christian and because of God she was able to quit smoking and stop cutting. Its still hard for her though because she has alot of other burdens she is dealing with.

Another girl in our group used to be into cutting. She cut about four times a day because she was bullied so bad in school. If she had not have stopped when she did, she would have died because of the excess amount of blood lost.

At the end of the night, the pastor and his wife wanted to bless our team. They donated enough for us to each have $20.00. This is such a blessing!!! They actually gave us money to spend on ourselves and not the ministry!! Its crazy how much of a pick me up $20.00 can be. Not because its money, but because these people were led out of the kindness of their heart and by God to bless our team. Very encouraging.

Blessed

Blessed is how I feel after being here. Blessed to meet these people. Blessed to be loved. Blessed to live with my own family. Blessed to have a family. Blessed to be alive.

Pikangikum is a native reserve that is in Northern Ontario.

In order to get to it, you need to drive on the ice road. UNLESS, the ice has not melted then in that case, you must FLY.

So, our team and all our stuff got flown into Pik to do a couple events here.

The lady that picked us up is Colleen. She is a missionary who has been here 14 years. She is such an inspiring lady that has such a heart for everyone here. She goes to sit down, she gets a call, and someone needs her to drive him or her somewhere. She tries to sit down again then, there’s a knock at the door, someone needs something. She is just so beautiful inside out because she puts all her needs aside and cares completely way more about them then herself.

While we were here, Colleen decided to take us on a tour of Pikangikum. We went and saw the Northern, which is the only store here. Prices there are CRAZY! A box of oranges is $11.00, a block of cheese is $14.00, A litre of apple juice is $7.49, a no name brand of bacon is $8.45. Unfortunately having only one store, there are not many jobs in this town. There are only about 200 opportunities for the town of 2,200 people. Some people have resorted to bootlegging because they can get so much money for such a small amount of alcohol. It costs $160.00 for a 16oz. container of alcohol. Therefore, most people here are on welfare. A single mother gets $180.00 every two weeks. But, that does not go a long way when you think about and think about the kids that she needs to provide for.

On our way back from the store to head to another part of town, two girls stopped us. One of the girls told us that her boyfriend had just over dosed and was in the hospital. She said this without hardly any expression on her face. This is the norm for these people. The two girls rushed into our vehicle and Colleen drove them to the hospital and stayed there but first, dropped us off at home. There at her house, we stayed and prayed. When Colleen returned, she told us that the boy was going to be all right and not have any damage. However, while she was in the hospital, a grandfather brought in a baby. The baby couldn’t breathe and ended up dying. Colleen had the unpleasant job of going and getting the mom and taking her to the hospital. Colleen told us that the mom is really into gas sniffing and the father is in jail and both grandparents are alcoholics. She said when she arrived at the house it smelled like gasoline and boos.

It’s hard to fathom just what these people are going through. 96% of the people here do not have running water. They use outhouses and haul their water from public sources.

This is the second longest period Pik has gone through with out suicides… They haven’t had one since March. Before that, there were four this year. We passed a house on our tour and Colleen said that this was one of the saddest houses. They lost six children. 4 to suicide, 1 to AIDS and 1 to TB.

It’s hard to understand how God can be in a place like this. But yet, there is a still glimmer of hope. He showed us through a couple of events. Although some of these girls were really hyper and rowdy, you could tell that they were touched in some small way or another. God is good and our prayer as a team is just that the girls will see a light. A possibility. Better yet, LOVE. They all need love and they are all lacking. It’s so sad to see the pain that they go through.

But yet, God has a plan and purpose for all of them.

snow!!!

THERE IS SNOW OUTSIDE!! :D

so recently, our last couple events have been near winnipeg. This has been so awesome because that means for the last couple nights, we have gotten to sleep in our own beds. How great.
Two nights ago, we got about 10cm of snow and it has been snowing since! Fantastic! HOWEVER, Winnipeg my friends is COLD so so COLD!

The events that we have had lately have been awesome.
Couple nights ago I got to talk to two girls during nail painting. During ministry time, I got them to tell me some of the deeper things going on in their lives. I said: "you probably have some stuff you don't want to talk about, an issue in your lives, that only you guys know about each other, but its okay to tell me." They then started to share about themselves. Both of these girls dads are alcoholics and their parents divorced. One lives her Dad; and her Mom is always with a different guy. The other lives with her Mom who remarried, and she and her new husband broke up too and her dad isn’t in the situation. SO these girls find themselves in hard situations that aren’t their fault. I talked with them for a long time just offering words of encouragement, and prayed with them afterwards.

Last night, we were in Cecilia's home town. We got to meet her family and friends. It was awesome!! So cool. The event there was great as well. I got to pray with a girl that just had such a heavy burden on her heart and I think that she found the night quite encouraging. I also connnected with two girls during nail painting. They loved me ahaha. After they got me to paint their nails, they wanted me to sit with them, to talk to them, they came up and talked to me after, and it was so cute. Recently our merch table got new things and the one came up and asked me how much a wristband was. She really wanted one but didnt have the money. So, I decided to buy her one. She was ECSTATIC!! It was such a good night last night. Cecilia talked and you could tell that the spirit was moving. It just started pouring out during the second half of ministry time. God is good.

On a side note however, I miss home SOOO MUCH!!!
At one event, there was a lady that looked almost identical to my mom. Made me tear up a bit. Its weird, I didnt realize how much I miss my friends and family. Not until I see things that remind me of them. Like going to a families house that hunts. That instantly makes me miss my dad and brothers. Or going to a church service. That makes me just want to play music with Kurt. Or seeing little kids, it is sooo hard to not bawl when i see kids!! I MISS MY NEPHEWS!!!

We only have 12 more events left though and then we are done this tour! Then we have office work to do... 28 DAYS TILL IM HOME THOUGH! :D so exciting!! Im worried however that all I will want to do is sleep. Its so frustrating. No matter how long you sleep during the night, you never get caught up. Sleep just doesn't help anymore... Its past the point of help.

Today, we are going to ONTARIO! :D kenora! Still far away but im excited that we will be in my home province for a few days!

Speaking of which, I need to ask for prayer. We are heading to a reserve called Pikangikum. The rape percent there is 100% for girls. It is also the top place for suicides in the world. It is going to be really hard to go there. There is going to be so many spiritual battles.

Anyways, I better go! We are heading off to KENORA!

no name

SOO COOL!

I got the opportunity to talk to a girl, and lead her to Christ. I went over to talk to her, and her friend was like: “She wants to become a Christian!” I then asked her about it and she said she wanted to. Her friend had taken her to youth group numerous amounts of times so she knew what being a Christian was like more or less. I asked her what it meant to her and what it would mean. She gave me a really great answer and basically said that she wanted to see things through Gods eyes and try to love like He loves. I told her a little bit more as well. Then I asked her again, “do you want to become a Christian?” She said she wanted to again so I then prayed the prayer with her. Her and her friend were so excited after that. It was great!!

Anywyas, that was a couple days ago now. I havent gotten the opportunity to write on my blog for such a long time it feels like.. I have been so busy.

Days feel like weeks and weeks feel like months. Partially its because we have been pulling a few 18-20 hour days.. It gets so tiring and overwhelming.

The events have been going really great however and our team has continued to grow together.

This past night and tongiht, we are in Kayla (one of the team members) home town. We got the blessing of stayin in her house and FINALLY having a REAL day off. It was such a great day.

I miss days off like this where you can laze around and watch movies, sleep, sleep, sleep, do make up and hair, make fun videos, sleep, do laundry, hang out with the team and ya.. it was such a great day not doing ANYTHING!

Anyways! sorry i havent blogged much! been an intense few days with the loaddss of driving and such!

Bed Bugs! (Cute fuzzzy creatures we make ;)

Today was a crazy day.

We left at 9 am this morning from Kelowna and came here to Chilliwack BC.
I love the mountains!

Tonight at our event, we were anticipating approximately 70 girls. However, we only had 49 which was great!

I was able to make some really great connections tonight.

When we started the girls were all really rowdy. During discussion, i ended up taking three girls out into a more quiet area. All these girls had walls built up inside. They seemed to have a great deal of attitude and didnt really wnat to be there. After taking through discussion, I found out some more intimate and hurtful details about these girls. They had each beeen through alot. It was very sad.

Throughout the rest of the night I really got to connect with them and talk about things. It was great and I really enjoyed it.

During the prayer time I got to pray with one girl and God was totally there. Things were happening and it was good.

At the end of the night I felt that I should buy each of these three girls a bed bug (the team makes cute little fuzzy creatures called bed bugs) and write them a note. Everything in the note was things that I felt they each neeeded to be told.

God was moving tonight and it was so great to see how thankful they were and jsut how much they were able to open up. It was so encouraging!

Catchinn up --> MOUNTAINS! :D

Alright, so I need to catch up and recap a little bit! :)

Night before last, we had an event in a small town. It went really good but my heart really delighted in the billeting that night. I got to stay with such a great family. They were all some of the kindest people I have ever met and it was so evident that God was the largest contributing factor. They were open about that too. Their family was truly beauty from the inside out! It was breath taking and encouraging.

Last night, the coordinator thought that it would be great to put us up in a hotel because she thought we would appreciate that. She truly went above and beyond. The hotel had a waterslide, pool, hottub and one of the rooms was even a king size bed with jaccuzzi! so awesome! Also, when we got there, there was a huge basket full of all different types of treats. She went above and beyond. It was so nice of her!

Today, well today was REVOLUTIONARY! AHHH!!! Mountains are the best thing ever (well, pretty clossssEEEE) we traveled through rain, snow, sun, and when we go to the other side in B.C. . . . it was still fall!!! orange leaves on the tree, beautiful sunny day, it was BREATH TAKING!! ::DD

tomorrow we have an event here but before that, we are going to watch the salmon travel upstream! :D superrr excited for picture opportunities! :D

FASCINATING!
